An East Islip resident, and retired Air traffic controller with 34 years of service, contacted my office because, after retiring in November 2021, he had still not received his entire pension or even been assigned a retirement specialist. The delay forced him to dip into his savings. my team reached out to resolve the issue and he will begin receiving retroactive payments at the start of the month.
A 90 year old resident from Bay Shore reached out to my office in need of assistance with obtaining her 2018 tax refund, which totaled just under $8k. Her accountant tried to get in touch with the IRS on multiple occasions, but was given different instructions when successful in getting someone on the phone.
A retired 9/11 first responder from Ronkonkoma who suffers from 9/11 related cancer and PTSD recently contact my office after his prescriptions, normally covered under the World Trade Center Health Program, were denied coverage suddenly after two years on the same medication. My caseworkers contact the WTC Health Program and discovered that they had switched prescription providers which resulted in the denial of coverage. We were able to work with the WTC Health Program to resolve the issue and ensure that this 9/11 hero continues to recieve coverage for the medication he needs.
While on the way to the airport, a constituent realized that his passport had recently expired. Although he had to miss his original flight, my casework team was able to secure him an appointment at the passport office the next morning, he received a new passport the same day, and was able to join his group on the trip that evening.
On the evening of June 17th, a constituent contacted my office about urgent travel needed within just two weeks. His passport application had been rejected due to paperwork issues. Our office got involed and he was able to receive his passport with just over 3 hours to spare!
A Massapequa Park resident filed for a new social security card for his daughter after she was born through the assistance of a surrogate in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Given that the Social Security office could not verify his daughter’s birth due to all records being sealed, her number was never issued and he could not add her to his health insurance, resulting in many medical bills from the hospital. Within 72 hours, my caseworkers discovered a way to clear her application and assign his daughter a Social Security Number.
A Deer Park resident applied for and received a PPP loan during the loan forgiveness period for his business and thereafter applied for loan forgiveness through Citibank. However, after completing the necessary procedure, the link was not appearing in his account dashboard which left the constituent hopeless with no other way to apply. My caseworkers reached out to the SBA and Citibank, resolved the issue, and his loan was approved to be forgiven.
A Massapequa resident contacted my office when her Medicare was unexcitedly terminated. Without coverage, she would be responsible for thousands of dollars of medical bills and be unable to make much needed appointments with her cardiologist and other doctors. My caseworkers reached out to the Social Security Administration, cleared up the error, and ensured her coverage was reinstated.
A Seaford resident needed a new passport on short notice for emergency travel. Even though she applied for expedited service, she needed help to ensure her passport would be ready on time. My casework team got inolved and was able to secure her new passport in time for her travel.
A constituent contacted my office and shared the sad news that his mother in Italy passed away. He was at the local passport agency, but was denied an appointment for an emergency passport. After reaching out to my Massapequa Park office, my casework team was able to secure him an appoint an hour later which made it so he could catch his 9:30PM flight to Italy the same night.
