Tours and Tickets
**SHUTDOWN UPDATE: Smithsonian museums will continue operation until at least Saturday, October 11, 2025. U.S. Capitol tours have been suspended **
** NOTICE: The White House has announced that public tours will not be available during the month of October 2025. Availability for November and December White House tours is still pending at this time. U.S. Capitol Tours and other D.C. sites remain open. For questions, please call 202-225-7896. **
Visitors are welcome to tour the U.S. Capitol, House Galleries, and White House. Below you will find important information on tour schedules and reservations.
U.S. Capitol Tours
- Guide-led tour hours are available 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. The last guide-led tour begins at 3:20 PM
- To schedule a tour of the Capitol, please fill out the tour request form below
House Galleries
- When the House is in session, the Galleries open to visitors 30 minutes prior to the start of each session and remain open until adjournment
- When the House is not in session, the Galleries are open from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. The House Galleries are closed on federal holidays and are subject to unplanned, temporary closures when the House is out of session
- House Gallery passes are required for public visitor access to the House Gallery, both in and out of session, and are available for pick-up at 2344 Rayburn House Office Building
Library of Congress
- The Library of Congress offers reservations for self-guided tours of the Thomas Jefferson building
- The library is open for visitors from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM Tuesday to Saturday
- Tickets to visit the library can be reserved at this link, beginning 30 days in advance
White House
- White House tours are available to the public from 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM from Tuesday to Thursday, and from 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM on Fridays and Saturdays, excluding federal holidays
- White House tours are subject to change by the White House tour office with little notice due to inclement weather or scheduling conflicts
- Please be advised that White House tours must be booked at least 7 days in advance, and reservations become available 90 days in advance
- Tour requests will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis

FBI Headquarters
- FBI Headquarters tours must be booked at least 1 month in advance
- Tours of the FBI Headquarters are available on weekdays between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM, except on federal holidays
- To request a tour of FBI Headquarters, please include the following information for each guest:
- Full legal name, including middle, maiden, and former names, if applicable
- Date of Birth
- Social security number, for guests 16 years old and over
Supreme Court
- The Supreme Court offers self-guided tours from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM on weekdays, other than federal holidays
- Visitors should be aware that the business of the Court may affect public access to the building and visitor programs. The Court calendar can be found at this link
- The Supreme Court offers courtroom lectures, led by volunteer docents. Lectures are 25 minutes long and focus on the Court’s history and functions, as well as the history and architecture of the building. Lectures are available to the public on a first-come, first-served basis and are offered every hour, beginning at 10:30 AM and continuing until 2:30 PM
Bureau of Engraving and Printing
- Tours of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing Headquarters located at the corner of 14th and C Streets SW are available every half hour from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM on weekdays, except on federal holidays
- Tours are approximately 45 minutes in length, and can be reserved at this link a maximum of 60 days in advance
Smithsonian Museums
- Eleven museums are located along the National Mall in Washington, D.C., while six others and the Smithsonian’s National Zoo are nearby. All museums are free admission and open every day of the year except December 25
- The National Zoo, the Air and Space Museum, and the African American History and Culture Museum require free, timed entry passes
- Visitors should be aware that individual museums may occasionally close for renovations, special events, or other circumstances.
Washington Monument
- Tickets to tour the Washington Monument and visit the top with sweeping views of Washington, D.C. can be reserved at this link
- NOTE: While there is no admission fee for the Washington Monument, there is a $1.00 service charge per ticket to cover the cost of the reservation service. This charge is non-refundable
- The Washington Monument is open 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily (last available tour ticket at 4:00 PM) except for December 25, July 4, and part of July 3
- Tickets become available 30 days in advance and typically run out quickly. A limited number of tickets are made available at 3:00 PM for the next day
