Garbarino Helps Secure Delayed Tax Refund

A 90 year old resident from Bay Shore reached out to my office in need of assistance with obtaining her 2018 tax refund, which totaled just under $8k. Her accountant tried to get in touch with the IRS on multiple occasions, but was given different instructions when successful in getting someone on the phone. Once my casework team reached out, the IRS was able to tell us that the refund was held due to a lack of forms completed which the constituent was unaware of. We sent her the proper paperwork to be completed and send back to the office, to then forward to the IRS to continue processing. In less than 2 months, the constituent received her 2018 return that she’s been waiting over 3 years for.
