U.S. Rep. Andrew Garbarino (R-NY) on May 10 introduced a resolution expressing support for recognizing the Police Unity Tour, a four-day, 300-mile bicycle ride from locations across the country to Washington, D.C., to raise public awareness about law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. 

“I am proud to introduce this resolution,” Rep. Garbarino said, “and I thank my colleagues for joining me in recognizing and supporting the Police Unity Tour during this National Police Week.”

The Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 8.3 percent in April, down from 8.5 percent in March, but Rep. Andrew Garbarino (R-N.Y.) said that’s no reason for President Biden to celebrate, because inflation is still higher than expected.

Two members of the House have brought forth legislation that would press federal agencies to revisit what policies and programs are in place to help U.S. satellite owners and operators defend against hacks to their systems and assets.

The bill, introduced Friday, would charge the U.S. comptroller general to spend the next two years studying the federal government’s existing cybersecurity support to satellite owners and operators, as well as what more can be done.

Top New York Republicans are out to shoot down a first-of-its-kind measure now making its way through the state Senate that would place a new tax on ammunition.

The measure, introduced late last month by a pair of Democrats, would place a tax of up to a nickel on each round of ammunition measuring .22 caliber or less. Many veterans halls, like the American Legion, were forced to close or cut back services during the pandemic. U.S. Rep. Andrew Garbarino (R-NY) has introduced legislation that would help them get back on their feet.

The bill would set up a $25 million grant program. Veterans services organizations, like the VFW, could apply for up to $50,000 to keep their halls open and continue providing critical services.
