Rep. Garbarino Issues Statement In Response to AG Report Finding Governor Cuomo Harassed Multiple Women
MASSAPEQUA, NY - Today, New York Attorney General Letitia James released the findings of the investigation into the allegations of sexual harassment against New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. Congressman Andrew R. Garbarino issued the following statement:
“Months ago, I called for an investigation into the allegations of sexual harassment levied against Andrew Cuomo and today that investigation has concluded finding unlawful behavior on the grounds of sexual harassment and retaliation. Sexual harassment, intimidation, retaliation – these are proof of the Governor’s shocking abdication of leadership and, with the findings of the New York AG, it’s time for him to resign. His criminal guilt will be determined by a jury of his peers, but his inability to lead the state of New York during a time of crisis means that he needs to step down for the good of the state. The Governor has made it clear that he is too arrogant to resign so the State Assembly must stop dragging its feet and impeach him immediately.
“Public office is a place of public trust. There is no room for this kind of behavior by those who hold positions of power in our government. The Governor has attempted to discredit this investigation since the onset and even now he denies its findings. His excuses of playful affectionate behavior, generational divides, and a challenging work environment fall flat when you look at the testimony of his victims. He is not fit to lead the people of New York and if he won’t leave willingly, he must be removed by impeachment.”
