Garbarino Votes In Favor of Consolidated Appropriations Act
The legislation Included $36 Million For Local NY-02 Community Projects
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Andrew R. Garbarino voted in favor of H.R. 4366, The Consolidated Appropriations Act, which provides funding for the first six of twelve appropriations bills for Fiscal Year 2024. Rep. Garbarino released a statement following his vote:
“I am proud to have cast my vote in favor of this critical government funding package. This legislation cuts wasteful spending and is estimated to save taxpayers $200 billion over the next 10 years while funding critical domestic priorities. It includes robust funding for local law enforcement, expands efforts to combat the fentanyl crisis, and prohibits the DOJ from targeting Americans based on their religion or political ideology. It bolsters our military, expands housing for our servicemembers, and funds health care for our veterans. I’m proud to have had provisions I supported for VA suicide prevention outreach programs as well as for VA medical and prosthetic research included.
“This bill contains many Long Island priorities including $36.361 million I secured for 15 community projects in New York’s 2nd District. Funding was allocated for local sewer and flood resiliency projects, local housing and transportation projects, workforce training, and the 9/11 Memorial.
“Additionally, the Consolidated Appropriations Act empowers domestic energy production to reduce our reliance on foreign fuel and addresses the issue of China and other foreign adversaries buying up U.S. agricultural land. All in all, this legislation is a lesson in responsible government funding that includes key policy priorities and keeps our government open.”
