Garbarino Releases PSA Video During Cybersecurity Awareness Month
Congressman Garbarino urges public and private sector entities to access resources that can help protect them from cyber attacks.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, during Cybersecurity Awareness Month, Congressman Andrew R. Garbarino (R-NY), Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection, & Innovation, urges public and private entities - from local governments and school districts, to hospitals and small businesses - to visit the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency website at CISA.gov for information and resources to help protect themselves from ransomware and other cyber attacks.
"Cyber attacks have increased at an alarming rate and it's not just big companies that are being targeted," said Rep. Garbarino. "In the last year, we have seen multiple public school districts, small businesses, and even hospitals on Long Island held hostage by cyber criminals threatening Long Islanders' information privacy, financial security, and in some cases, personal safety. I want to get the word out so that every public and private entity on Long Island knows where they can find the resources they need to help them prepare for, prevent, and respond to any cyber threats that come their way."
In the video, Rep. Garbarino highlights CISA resources saying, "with ransomware incidents on the rise, it’s important to know what resources are available to help protect your organization. The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, housed within the Department of Homeland Security, is the nation’s lead civilian cybersecurity agency. CISA is available to help the public and private sector prepare for and respond to cyber attacks and offers many free resources."
Visit CISA.gov for more information about the resources and tools available.
