Garbarino, Local Officials, Law Enforcement Unveil New Police Vehicles

Rep. Garbarino secured federal funding for the vehicles meant to modernize Amityville’s police fleet and improve public safety
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Andrew R. Garbarino (R-NY-02) joined with Amityville Mayor Dennis Siry, Amityville Police Chief Bryan Burton, and additional Village and Law Enforcement representatives at Amityville Village Hall to unveil three fully outfitted new police vehicles obtained with federal funds secured by Rep. Garbarino.
"Our law enforcement officers need proper equipment to combat crime and effectively perform their duties. This is a matter of public safety and to ensure our officers have the tools they need to serve and protect,” said Rep. Garbarino. “These vehicles will help the Amityville Police Department modernize its fleet of police vehicles in order to better protect Amityville and the families and businesses that call this community home. I thank Mayor Siry and the Village of Amityville for working with my office to submit the funding request that allowed for the purchase of these vehicles. I am proud to be able to deliver federal funding directly to my district and ensure the needs of New York’s Second District are being met by those in Washington."
“We appreciate this major financial support that which enables us to upgrade our APD fleet with three fully equipped vehicles. Congressman Garbarino shares our commitment to ensuring our community’s safety and we are pleased to be able to provide these critical tools to our officers for their emergency response and enforcement efforts,” said Mayor Dennis M. Siry, Village of Amityville.
Amityville was awarded $210,000 in the Fiscal Year 2023 Appropriations bill through a Community Project Funding request that Rep. Garbarino submitted on behalf of the Village of Amityville during the appropriations process. The funds were designated to replace the Amityville Police Department’s aging and out-of-date cruisers.
Specifically, the funding was awarded as a grant through the Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Program. The program provides federal leadership, grants, training, technical assistance, and other resources to improve the nation’s capacity to prevent and reduce crime and uphold the rule of law.
