Garbarino Issues Statement on Jen Easterly for CISA Director

April 12, 2021

WASHINGTON – Congressman Andrew Garbarino (NY-02), Ranking Member of the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection, and Innovation, issued the following statement on the announcement of President Biden’s intent to nominate Jen Easterly as Director of the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA):

“Cybersecurity is national security, and it is encouraging to see the Biden Administration announce their intention to nominate a CISA Director. After suffering two of our nation’s most significant cyber-attacks, the SolarWinds campaign and the compromise of the Microsoft email server, nominating the helm of our nation’s lead federal civilian cybersecurity agency was long overdue.

Jen has built a career in both the private sector and in the government to strengthen our country’s cybersecurity and I look forward to working alongside Ms. Easterly, Chairman Thompson, Ranking Member Katko and Chairwoman Clarke to ensure that CISA can continue to carry out its mission.”
