Garbarino Helps Restore Medical Benefits to a Combat Veteran
June 20, 2021
Recently, constituent in New York's Second Congressional District - a Service Connected Veteran - contacted my office concerning his loss of VA Medical Benefits during the pandemic. Upon further discussion, it was discovered that the Veteran’s Service Connected Illness was reduced from 100% to 10% due to a missed health examination. My team reached out to the Department of Veteran Affairs and in cooperation with the VA Regional Office had the Veteran re-examined and his 100% Service Connection was reinstated, allowing him to get the much need medical attention. In addition, the veteran received almost $40,000 in retroactive compensation benefits.
