A constituent contacted my office after receiving a suspicious letter she believed to be part of a scam. My casework team reached out to the Postal Inspection Service, which confirmed that the letter was indeed part of a mail fraud scheme. The letter claimed she had won a sweepstakes and included a seemingly legitimate check.

Important Reminder: A legitimate sweepstakes will never ask you to send money or pay a tax or fee to claim a prize. Never provide personal or financial information to unknown parties via mail, email, or phone. If you believe you have received a suspicious offer or solicitation, you can report it at www.USPIS.gov/report or call 1-877-876-2455.
